Jonah and the Whale Clipart
I am making a few file folder games and this little guy didn't make the cut (well I couldn't think of anything to do with him) but I like him too much to just leave him sitting in a computer file instead of being loved, so I'm giving him to you guys. If you can think of something to do with him let me know and I'll put him in a file folder game, two or more brains are better than one! Hope you like him!

The Gifts of the Spirit [GP: Lesson 22]
LDS.org Gospel Principles Manual, Lesson 22
Hi guys, remember how my new calling is a Gospel Principles teacher? Well this week is my first lesson. I promise I am going to go back and do the handouts for you ladies in Relief Society. But here's what I am doing Sunday for my lesson.
There are 12 gifts that the lesson talks about. So what I'm doing is I'm wrapping 12 different size boxes (because no gift if more significant then the others) and then passing them out (I was told I would have about 15-20 people so if I need to have people have more than one box so be it, or not everyone will get a box.)
Here's some quotes I found on gifts of the Spirit not sure which ones I'm going to use yet, but I love the one from George Q. Cannon
"It was asked of me by a gentleman how I guided the people by revelation. I teach them to live so that the Spirit of revelation may make plain to them their duty day by day that they are able to guide themselves. To get this revelation it is necessary that the people live so that their spirits are pure and clean as a piece of blank paper that lies on the desk before the [writer], ready to receive any mark the writer may make upon it." Brigham Young
"He wants His saints to be perfected in the truth. For this purpose He gives these gifts, and bestows them upon those who seek after them, in order that they may be a perfect people upon the face of the earth, notwithstanding their many weaknesses, because God has promised to give the gifts that are necessary for their perfection . . .If any of us are imperfect, it is our duty to pray for the gift that will make us perfect. Have I imperfections? I am full of them. What is my duty? To pray to God to give me the gifts that will correct these imperfections. If I am an angry man, it is my duty to pray for charity; which suffereth long and is kind. Am I an envious man? It is my duty to seek for charity, which envieth not. So with all the gifts of the Gospel. They are intended for this purpose." Elder George Q. Cannon
"The gifts given to each individual are given not only for the one who receives, but also for those who can benefit when the gift is shared with others." Robert D. Hales
"Spiritual gifts are endless in number and infinite in variety." Bruce R. McConkie
**THIS LESSON IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION SO SOME THINGS MAY BE ADDED OR TAKEN AWAY :)** please feel free to take any of my ideas and help for your lesson!

This is a talk by Elder Robert D. Hales on gifts of the spirit. A GREAT AID! It's a long talk, but I just took what I wanted and added it to my lesson.

Faith in Every Footstep
"For all of us this life is a time of sifting and refining. We all face trials. Individual members in the early days of the Church were tested and refined when they had to decide if they had the faith... to put their belongings in a wagon or a pioneer handcart and travel across the American plains. Some did not have the faith. Those who did, traveled "with faith in every footstep." In our time we are going though an increasingly difficult time of refining and testing. The tests are more subtle becuase the lines between good and evil are being eroded. Very little seems to be sacred in any of our public communication. In this environment we will need to make sure where we stand all of the time in our commitment to eternal truths and covenants." President James E. Faust

When You Save a Girl, You Save Generations
"It is tremendously important that the women of the Church stand strong and immovable for that which is correct and proper under the plan of the Lord. We call upon the women of the Church to stand together for righteousness. They must begin in their own homes.... They must be the teachers and the guardians of their daughters...When you save a girl, you save generations. I see this as the one bright shining hope in a world that is marching toward self-destruction....We must never lose sight of the strength of women. It is mothers who set the ton of the home. It is mothers who teach infants to pray, who read to them choice and beautiful literature from the scriptures and other sources. It is mothers who nurture them and bring them up in the ways of the Lord." President Gordon B. Hinckley

Handprint Daddy
With Father's Day fast approaching here's an idea that is both cheap and a wonderful keepsake when kids are grown.
Putting your kids' handprints on either clay or even paper.Salt Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt1 cup cold water
Directions: In a large bowl, mix table salt and flour together. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water and mix to desired consistency. Knead the dough on a flat surface, adding a few more drops of water as needed (but not making it too moist).
Once the dough is made, you can divide it up into small portions to roll into 1/8" thick pieces with a rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to cut out a variety of shapes, and place the shapes on wax paper or other surface to dry. If you want to make hanging ornaments, pierce the dough through with a toothpick while it's wet.
Allow the shapes to dry for a day or two, turning them over periodically to speed up the drying process. You may need to re-pierce the hole several times during the drying process. After the shapes dry, you can use a fine grit sandpaper to gently smooth any rough edges.
Baking Alternative
Instead of allowing the dough shapes to air dry, you can bake them in the oven at 200 degrees F until hard. Baking times varies depending on oven and dough thickness. Make sure the dough is completely baked. You can cover the dough with aluminum foil if it starts to darken before completely baked through.
Salt Dough Project Suggestions and Tips:
~You can store prepared salt dough in a sealed container in the refrigerator for a day or two before using.
~Add color to the dough by mixing food coloring or paint into the water before adding it to the flour/salt mix. Alternatively, you can paint the finished baked dough with acrylic paint.
~Painted objects should be sealed on all sides with polyurethane spray or clear varnish to make them lasting gifts or keepsakes.
Here's an idea for puffy paint. It really puffs up and it has only a few ingredients.
Puffy Paint
For either make sure you put the child's name and the date.
And here's a fun and cute little poem you can attach to the paper or clay with a ribbon, raffata, etc.
Today
I am reorganizing my craft room and I found a bunch of quotes on little pieces of papers so I want to get them onto the computer.
Love this one!
"Supposing today were your last day on earth,
The latst mile of the journey you've trod;
After all your struggles, how much are you worth?
How much can you take home to God?"
