August Sharing Time Week 3 & 4

These weeks are my absolute favorite of this month. I saw the theme at the beginning of July and knew that this week(s) is going to be awesome! How wonderful to be able to teach the kids that answers to prayers do come!
This game goes along with  the game Candyland.

* I will be available to answer questions/send material until Saturday 10:30pm MST, both weeks. I will not be answering any emails or comments on Sundays so please don't be upset when I respond on Monday.
Please note there are no refunds for anything digital in the Etsy shop. Please email with questions. Thanks!

Please read the "Item Details" (writing under the preview) in Etsy if you have questions on how to play or how to assemble, I have written out everything, please let me know if you have questions!

$3.00 USA
- 28x22 "game board" (size of standard white poster) divided into 8x11 pages
- colored squares to make your own board
- 3 board "mover" pieces
- scenario "stickers" to add to the board
- 12 stories/scenarios where prayers are answered/not answered.
- 1 deck with cards to draw (will need to be printed as many times has you'd like)

Tape/put together your game board, and cut out the draw cards, glue the "scenario" stickers onto the squares you'd like. Strategically, shuffle the cards so you can make sure to get through the scenarios you like. Include scenarios of both a prayer being answered and no answered as same aren't answered right away.

When a kid gets onto a scenario, have their partner or you read the card after each card ask, "how was this prayer answered? After a few of the stories, ask the kids, "have you noticed anything about the answers to the prayers? Are they all answered the same way?

How to play:
Separate the kids into teams, each team in turn will draw from a draw pile (strategically "shuffle" the cards so you get to the ones you want to) and put their team's "mover" onto the correct color. On the board, you could also write "lose a turn", "go back to start", etc to make the game more "game-like". When the movers land on the scenario cards. Read the story and ask questions about how the prayers were/weren't answered. Maybe ask if any of the kids have a similar experience.

New Sponsor and a Giveaway!

Now if you're from northern Utah, please continue reading as this sponsor is Utah based and is just awesome!
Last week was my birthday and my son's birthday too. I hate  making cakes, I'm the mom who makes a 9x13 pan, pulls out the store bought frosting and slathers it on, top it with candles and I'm done. But I wanted something more for this year. I'm in a mom group for Weber and Davis counties and I asked who made birthday cakes, Robyn said that she did, I popped onto her blog and perused her blog and cakes. So I ran across this one. And was blown away by her talent and hired her.

She made Hayden a tiger cake (isn't it darling!) and I took advantage of her special at the time and got a "smash cake" for me.

Okay so enough from me!
Here's from Robyn mingled with her cakes! You can visit her blog to see more work HERE!

SWEET ELISE CAKES
"Making your special day sweeter"
For her daughter Elise's 3rd birthday, Robyn was in search of someone who could make a Rapunzel-themed cake. Unable to find a cute one within her budget, she decided she would make it herself. It was a huge success! Word of mouth spread like wildfire and she started getting requests for numerous cakes and other sweet treats. Combining her love for baking along with the art of creating three dimensional confections hit the sweet spot. Mixing business with pleasure was a no-brainer from that point on.  "Sweet Elise Cakes" was born. It seemed fitting to name the business after her daughter since she was the reason behind her mother's determination to make her special day sweeter!

INFO
Robyn specializes in fondant work & buttercream cakes/cupcakes for any type of special event, but also can do specialty items such as cookies or cake pops. She also is skilled in sculpting 3D objects out of cake, and for more intricate details; homemade rice crispy treats.

Knowing how it feels to want a custom cake and not be able to pay top dollar for one, she's willing to work with any budget.

August Sharing Time WK 2

I'm so excited for this month's theme and was so disappointed that I couldn't find the time to finish last week's Sharing Time, I was almost done with it but alas family vacation awaited. Each month I look at the Sharing Times and kind of plot out what I think is a great way to share things with the kids. I pray about each lesson and start pulling up talks, scriptures, etc off the internet and study. Each week I'm always gobsmacked by the love Heavenly Father has for us and how He answers my little, old prayers on how to present each week's Sharing Time. So thank you, thank you for coming here and supporting me in my endeavors in making Primary just a little easier.

As always, please remember this is just a guide for you to help your lesson. This is for your Primary. Keep those little and big kids in your prayers as you study and learn for this week's lesson.

For this week, I couldn't get the thought out of my mind about a quote by President Hinckley of how we shouldn't say our prayers like we order pizza. So for this week's Sharing Time we'll be building a pizza!

*If you are confused or need extra help getting a hang of this Sharing Time please email me, I'm more than willing to answer questions. I can't really have a conversation in the comments.
The basis of the pizza is to "build our prayers" just as we build a pizza with yummy goodness.
The toppings could be blessings we receive by saying our prayers, places we can pray, have scenarios of maybe how we can ask for help, or ask the kids questions about prayer. This lesson truly is about YOUR Primary. I give suggestions and you decide how to best give a lesson.
Please email with questions, I will be "around" until about 11:30pm MST.

All of the Sharing Times mix together very well this month, it's okay to talk about things from earlier this month or touch on the next couple weeks.

 ------------------------------------------------------------

Ask, "What do you think of  when you listen/read this scripture in Alma?"
Pray.... When do we pray? Where do we pray? Who do we pray to?

After answers from the kids, read this quote:
"You don't have to be any place special for the Lord to [hear] answer your prayer. He knows where you are. He knows your name. He can answer you right here, right now, any moment."
Elder D. Todd Christofferson

Materials you'll need:
- printouts of pizza and piecings - everything can be printed at home, if you have questions/problems printing see the FAQs
-glue/tape for the kids to put the pieces on and to put the pizza crust onto the board

USE COUPON CODE: PIZZAPIZZA10

-individual pieces to fit onto pizza

Let the kids know, wherever you are, no matter what time, your Heavenly Father is there listening to your prayers. Answers may not come right away, but we are on His time, he will give us an answer to our prayers when the time is right. As we say sincere prayers, we will have a a stronger relationship with our Heavenly Father. Before you say your prayers, think of your day and what blessings you have received, what you are grateful, friends or family that may need some help, or maybe you need help on a test. It is through our prayers that we can receive strength and the courage to go through hard things, your Heavenly Father loves you and wants to help you.

And I loved this quote by President Monson :)

New Sponsor and a Giveaway for 2 winners

Well I've been missing in action, away at Bear Lake enjoying 5 days of sun, beach, and lake. Awe how I miss it already. Any-hoo, you may have noticed that we have a new sponsor!! Oh yes super excited! So let's just jump right in!
Welcome, Jessica from Time Savors with downloadable Book of Mormon books for toddlers!

I am so excited to be here on Latter-day Chatter! This is such an incredible blog and Jess offers so many wonderful things! I'm happy to get the chance to introduce myself here on her site.

My name is Jessica and I am a wife to a great husband and mother to a 3 year old daughter and a new son. My husband and I met at BYU and after having our daughter, I put my finance career on hold to stay home with her. Being a stay-at-home mom is so much busier than I ever thought it could be, but it's also the biggest joy and reward in my life right now. I enjoy cooking, reading, teaching piano, digital scrapbooking, basketball and working on my Etsy Store on the side when I find those rare spare moments.

The theme of my store is "Time-Savors" where I share the items I've created to either save time in my own busy life or to make being a mom easier while having fun along the way. I've got a bunch of Holiday Survival packs underway, but my main project right now is Book of Mormon Stories {For Toddlers and Children}.

Background behind the Project: When my daughter turned 2, her vocabulary took off. Before she was 2 1/2, she could identify every Disney Princess with the right prince, and also tell you each Princess' story from memory.  We could read story after story, but anytime I introduced the simplified scripture stories I had from the Distribution Center, she'd lose interest within minutes. I began looking everywhere for something that was more alluring to a small child but wasn't able to find anything that fit what I was looking for.

1) More than just an activity book; I wanted a simple explanation of the entire story so she would be learning the storyline
2) Bright and eye catching (like the Disney stories) so it would grab and hold her attention
3) Written in such a way that she could learn and tell the stories by herself
4) Interactive so we could do the stories together!

I couldn't find anything that fit what I was looking for. Some products were close but so heavily activity based that I felt the story got lost along the way. My husband and I brainstormed and I began the sketches of what I wanted. Within a few months, I'd done 5 stories along with quizzes and characters for her to play with. Within literally 3 minutes, my daughter could tell the entire story of Lehi leaving Jerusalem. I'd printed all the characters out and ironed them on flannel and she used them to tell "Daddy" the story of Lehi. All of a sudden the scriptures were fun! She passed all the quizzes the first time and now Sundays were exciting for her. The flannel characters actually stick to our benches at church so sacrament was a breeze while she played with her Lehi's and Nephi's and learned the stories I'd printed and laminated for her.

Since then I've been able to create 3 sets with the final set coming out this fall. I've had enough requests I hope to be able to continue on to the Bible. This product was something I hoped to be able to share with others and help them teach their own kids the gospel. I've enjoyed creating them and hope that I'm helping others along the way.

I'd LOVE to hear feedback, requests, or your questions! Thanks again Jess for letting me be here today!

And because Jessica is just awesome, you can have a chance to win all 3, that's right all 3, sets of her books.

2 winners! 4 ways to enter.
Giveaway ends Friday, August 9th (my birthday, woot woot!)

Ways to enter:
1) Pin her books to Pinterest (just repin via link)

3) Answer: "What would you use these cute little books for?"

(please comment with which entries you've done)
