March Sharing Time WK 1

I'm teaching this week because my brother-in-law is going on his mission and his Farewell is the normal week I teach so we did a little switch-a-roo.

So for this week we are going to be building our testimonies!! Quite literally, I found a fun idea in the Friend (December 1991)of building a wall with a strong foundation, and I knew this was the lesson.

This is the picture I'm using, I'm printing it as a large poster (if you'd like the files- it's cut into 2-11x17s- please email: latterdaychatter@hotmail.com) so I don't have to worry about accidentally ruining a library picture.

Directions and printouts included in the download.

Good luck in your Sharing Time!!

Reverence: Hatched Eggs

How to use:
Print out the eggs and laminate for extended use. The eggs are a decent size and are big enough for the Sunbeams to use.
Tell the Sunbeams that through Sharing Time/Singing Time that they need to keep their eggs warm so that they can hatch a little bird afterwards.
The Birds are stickers and will fit onto the Avery template for the sticker paper (you don't need to download anything, just print as an 8.5x11 page onto the sticker paper) I used a circle punch (1 inch and 2 inches) to cut the character stickers out.

February Sharing Time WK 4

The fun game I couldn't wait to pull together, and is so much fun to look at! Such a fun way to share the good choices and bad choices of life. Includes a 2ft board with a key and 5 big ships to play a church version of the game Battleship. It includes 2 sheets of scenarios both hits and misses and blank sheets to add your own.

Note: I've had a few gals ask to explain better how to use the ships and hit/miss pieces:
#1 cover the ships with a big white paper (abt 5-6 computer printer papers glued together) then as the kids "hit" the ships use an exacto knife or rip the paper so that part of the ship (don't expose whole ship) is exposed then use a hit scenario. You could also have a member of the presidency to help with this part. It’ll be less disruptive with the help because then you wouldn’t have to stop.

#2 you could print another large board and put it the other side of the chalk board with the hit version (teacher or member of presidency behind doing the hit version). You can then do all the scenarios at once.

#3 The hit/miss pieces are used when the kids say C6, A8, etc. When one of your ships are there (spread out your ships across the board) Red is a hit and white is a miss. So you'll glue/tape a red/white piece depending on if they've hit one of your ships (they must "sink" your ship- all gray bullets are filled on that ship- then you say "sunk". To make it easier on the Junior Primary you could also show part of the ships so they kind of know where they are, but that would entirely depend on how young your JP is.

Please comment below or email me (latterdaychatter@hotmail.com) for other questions about the game. I'll be available to answer emails until 10:30 (MST) tonight.

February Sharing Time WK 2

I have been looking forward to this Sharing Time for about a month now. This week it's my turn to teach!!

Our Primary has been really rowdy the last few weeks so I'm hoping that if I put those older kids in "charge" of the groups that there will be more cooperation from them. Because we have a small Primary, we meet together for Singing Time and Sharing Time and I think sometimes that the older kids are bored. So we'll see how it goes.

I'll throw all the pieces into different envelopes and hand them out to the groups with a scripture that goes with each creation day. As each group comes up, we'll discuss each creation after reading the quick scriptures. There are a ton of pieces so I think all of our Primary will be able to participate in one form or another.

I'm still debating whether or not to let the older kids do some of the cutting to help with the little kids. Your thoughts?

February Sharing Time WK 1

I love what is has in the outline, so I'm adding to it. As you are talking about what goes on in each of the 3 sections you can have the different cut-outs to go along with it and put it onto the board.
For example: Temple Ordinances, you could ask "where does this go?" Mortal life, but you could also touch on the fact that in the temple we perform ordinances for those that are dead so they can have the same blessings.
Handicap children: Mortal life, we are each given trials in this life.
Etc.
Included with the cut-outs are cards that you can also  you to go along with each "phase" that you talk about.

And whip out those markers/crayons! I'm looking forward to seeing all the kids' drawings! I love it when ours gets time to draw the cutest things come out of those small moments. Below is a download to handout to each of the kids as instructed in the outline.

January Sharing Time WK 4

Hello ladies! It's been too long since a ST has been posted. But with orders dying down now that you are all ready for 2014, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things and am so excited to start back up with sharing ideas for Sharing Times!

When I think of following the Savior, I think of sheep. They are just good followers (as we can see in the Parable too) so this game is with sheep.

Materials Needed:
Printouts
Sticky Hand/Sticky darts (dollar store)
Tape/Magnets
Scissors

*HOW TO PLAY: Put all the sheep onto the board scattered around (not behind the "pen") with tape on the back (you could put up the scenarios up too behind the sheep or just have them in your hand/on table.) Put up the "fence" in the middle or the bottom of the board so that as the kids "catch" the sheep they can put it back into the "pen". Have kids come up and using sticky hand try to hit one of the sheep. (I usually give the bigger kids 3 tries and then pick a sheep and the little kids 4 tries). After the kids hit the sheep pick a scenario and asked what the kids would do and expound on what they say and why it's a good way that we can follow Jesus.

*SUNDAY: Begin by briefly sharing how before we came to Earth Heavenly Father presented a Plan for us to be able to return to be with Him one day. It is through Jesus Christ that we are able to return to Heavenly Father. While we are on Earth we have a perfect example to follow, Jesus Christ. But what does it mean, when we say "Follow Jesus Christ?"
Following Jesus Christ means that we are willing to do what He has asked us to do. By following the commandments and listening to the prophet we will be able to know how we can follow Jesus.

Say "all my sheep have gotten out the the pen!" You need to help me catch all my sheep and we'll learn ways that we can follow Jesus.

I've included black scenario cards so you can add your own too.

Sheena, over at Little LDS Ideas, has another fun idea for this week's Sharing Time, playing a little fishing game. Head over to check it out HERE.
