September Sharing Time WK 4: Respecting Others

Getting ready for General Conference? Come check out THIS linky party and ideas!

Download cards below and write one for each child (if you have a large Primary, recruit the teachers to help) complimenting them on what they do best or how you have seen them showing respect to someone else, whether it's mowing their neighbor's lawn, helping their mom in Sacrament Meeting, erasing the chalkboard after the lesson, etc. Ask them how they felt when reading their notes.... We should always strive to help others feel that same feeling, when we show respect to them we show them that we love them.
Hand out blank ones to each of the children, asking them how they can show respect to others. You can have them share in groups or select some to be shared out loud, time permitting.

From the Friend:
Showing Respect (This is a choose which one is showing respect, excellent visuals and would be a fun game if there's extra time, for those kids that may be more visual learners-maybe those boys in the back would be willing to help :)

September Sharing Time WK 3: Honoring Parents

Getting ready for General Conference? Come check out THIS linky party and ideas!

I didn't realize how many people have loved and used the weekly sharing time cards, so I'm going to bring them back, and I hope those that have used them will forgive me for not continuing to do them.

Play a game and find out about Honoring Our Parents, I have included 6 different scenarios, some good and some bad, I've also included 2 blank cards to fill in yourself.
You could play with some numbered dice or you could play a matching game by printing off 2 or you can just have the kids come up and pick one, and then discuss.

Today....

I wanted to share my gratitude for the men, women, firefighters and policemen, military men and women, to the families of those lost. Thank you. Thank you for your sacrifices for my freedoms. To be able to hold my boys close and know that there are those who have lost theirs. To know I have a husband safe and at work, knowing that others didn't have that on this scary day 11 years ago.
My heart and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones in the face of courage on a plane, in torn apart buildings, and on the battlefield.

Thank you!

Small Acts

Getting ready for General Conference? Come check out THIS linky party and ideas!

Tonight's FHE for my family was from this month's Friend, you won't have to search far and wide for it, we did the article from President Monson on service.
And I made up a printable for you!

For dessert, I made a cherry cream pie, SOOOO delicious and easy!!

Needed:
Ready made graham cracker crust
Fruit preserves (I bought the 21 ou cherries can)
Lemon Juice
8 ou of thawed whipped cream
8 ou of cream cheese (softened)
1tsp vanilla
1 cup powered sugar

Beat together the cream cheese and the powered sugar until smooth. I put in just a touch of lemon for some zing and the vanilla next, beat for about 2 minutes or so. Then whipping by hand, fold in the whipped cream. That's it. Now put it into the crust, spreading it evenly. Then put your fruit preserves on top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

It took me about 10 minutes or so to whip this up and let's face it, I'm no cook or baker, and 10 minutes I can handle before my boys' hands get into something. And it's really yummy, extra bonus.

Articles of Faith

Getting ready for General Conference? Come check out THIS linky party and ideas!

I currently have a calling as a Primary Teacher, I love it! The best callings are in Primary (in my completely biased opinion), I teach the 8-10 year olds, and I've been trying to think of ways to help them get their Faith in God award. Currently our Primary doesn't do anything for it, but I personally feel it's important for "my kids" to know these. The world is so scary, and they need these little mustard seeds to help them. So... here's what I'm doing....

I made 4 different punch cards for the kids to choose from, when they complete each Article of Faith they can put their choice of sticker on that circle.  I'm debating whether or not to keep them in my binder or to give them to the kids.

I have also updated and revamped my Articles of Faith from a couple years ago, you can download all 13 (3.5x4) HERE. I'll be laminating these, and putting them onto a binder ring for each of my class to take home with them put on their scripture bag.

#8 has an error in the above download. You can download a corrected one HERE.

4X6 CARDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!!

11x17 and 8x10 coming soon!

I've ordered some of these plastic capsules to put the prizes into. Not sure how financially friendly they would be for large Primaries, but for my class it works. They will be taking the prize and giving me back the capsule.  After they have memorized all 13 they'll get their favorite candy bar king sized.
You could also put the prizes into Easter Eggs no problem, same effect with a surprise prize. You could also decorate with stickers, puffy paint etc or you could spray paint and add glitter to them for more added fun. Or you could use those little gift baggies with ties or curly ribbon.
For the prizes, I've ordered toys from Oriental Trading, just a mix batch for both boys and girls to have fun with.

LINKS BELOW PICTURES

With the starting of Just Simply Christmas, I've been thinking of different gifts to give for my two boys, cousins, neighbors, friends and the like so I thought I would search high and low for those cute ideas for the kids in your life, to get you jump started for the coming holidays, just for fun, or for Church!!

Magnetic Paper doll Sheet Cover
(these would be awesome to make for Church, I think, maybe for the scripture characters instead! No more baggies!! Hooray!)
Make it and Love it

Princess or Superhero Peg dolls
How cute are these!! My son would love them! Though I may do Disney characters like Peter Pan or Robin Hood, he's really not into superheroes but I love the idea of letting his imagination run wild!
A Girl and A Glue Gun

DIY Lego Travel Box
(Okay seriously, how cool is this!?!? Small enough for them to carry and legos aren't going to go everywhere in the car!)
Finley & Oliver

Mini Coloring Tote
(Do you have a little artist in your midst? Mine has been the fun adventure, I'm sure he'd get a kick out of this for Church!)
LBG Studio

Child Messenger Bag
(I'm officially in love with this pattern, it looks so simple, maybe I could attempt it! Telling A to go fill his bag, gives him such independence, and he's so good at picking quiet toys)
Zaaberry

Car Caddy
(Homemade by Jill has a TON of stuff to make for your kids, seriously peruse if you will, you'll be lost in your craft room for forever with ideas)
Homemade By Jill

No Sew Tutu
(I've always seen little girls in tutus, they look cute in them and what better way then no sewing, to make life easier!)
Southern Belle

DIY Bean Bags
(OH my OH my!! I'm so excited about these!! I'm by any means, a sew*er, but I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a bean bag it's just not in me, but how fun would these be all in the living room! Ready to be bounced on!)
So You think You're Crafty
