Primary 5, Lesson 7

I LOVE this quote and thought that it was just perfect for this lesson!

I also ran across this fun crossword puzzle from an old Friend magazine and created an easy printable for it.
Please note that this is created as a printable for a LEGAL PAPER (8.5x14). This paper size can easily be found at office supply stores.

{CTR} Primary 2, Lesson 13

I wanted to share these stories from the Friend and let you show the story to the kids on one full sheet of paper. I've resized these stories to fit onto legal paper.
Print the stories from the Friend on legal paper (8.5x14)
Check your printer tray for an adjustment to the larger size.

This story is just amazing! The little girl is choking on a candy stuck in her throat. Her dad follows the prompting to go and find her.

This story has two different stories about the Holy Ghost helping us.
1) He prays for help in finding an arrow.
2) He prays for help to get safely over a mountain while flying.

This story the little girl prays for help in finding her stuffed cat.

Primary 7, Lesson 39: Stephen, the Martyr

Primary 7, Lesson 39: Stephen, the Martyr

After Jesus died, many of the Jewish leaders thought that the miracles and the Church of Jesus would go away, but they didn't because the Apostles could perform miracles and continued teaching the gospel. This angered the leaders and they put two of the apostles in prison and James was killed.
Stephen was a righteous man and one of seven that the Apostles called to help them manage and run the Church. He was accused of going against Jewish law, he was arrested and taken to trial by the Jewish Council.
At the trial, Stephen told them that they were wicked and that they had killed Jesus Christ.
Stephen then looked up and there saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He told the leaders what he saw but they didn't believe him and were angry. They took Stephen and stoned him to death. As he was dying, Stephen asked for God to take his spirit.

June Sharing Time WK 2

Here's a story that I thought will "show" how we can be helped by listening to the still small voice.

“Thanks for inviting me over, Jake,” Britton said as he stepped outside his friend’s house. “I need to go home for lunch now.”
The friends waved good-bye as Britton headed down the dirt road he usually took to and from Jake’s house. Then his eyes wandered over to the field he called “the Jungle.” It didn’t have any tropical plants or wild animals, just a small path through a sea of tall grass and dry weeds. It was the quickest way home.
Britton thought for a second and then quickly squeezed through the fence poles that surrounded the field.
Snap! Swish! Dry sticks and grass crackled as Britton tromped along the path. The hot sun on his back made his shirt feel sticky. Then a little breeze sprang up, and Britton decided to race the wind home.
The path narrowed. Britton knew a stream was up ahead, so he ran a little faster. Rounding a bend, he was about to leap across the stream when suddenly he heard the word Stop!
Instantly Britton came to a halt and listened. All he heard was the swishing of the grass in the breeze. Britton frowned. The voice had been quiet but perfectly clear, as if someone had whispered in his ear. But no one was in sight.
Britton shrugged and turned to jump over the stream. Then he froze. Right in front of his face shimmered a huge spider web stretching like a net across the path by the stream. In the center of the web waited a large spider.
For a few seconds Britton stared at the spider with wide eyes. Then he ran back along the path out of the Jungle. He decided to take the dirt road home after all.
“Mom! Mom! Guess what?” Britton burst through the door and rushed to find Mom. Between breaths he told her about his journey through the Jungle, the voice, and his face-to-face encounter with the spider.
“I was this close to it, Mom!” He held his fingers up to show her.
“Wow! That must have been creepy,” Mom said. “Where do you think the voice you heard came from?”
“I don’t know,” Britton said. “Nobody was there. Do you think it was just the wind?”
“Do you remember what we learned in family home evening about the still, small voice?” Mom asked.
“Yes. That’s how Heavenly Father talks to us sometimes, right?”
Mom pulled the scriptures off the shelf next to the kitchen table and opened to the book of Helaman.
“Here’s how the Lord’s voice sounded to the Nephites,” she said. “‘It was not a voice of thunder, neither was it a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but behold, it was a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper’” (Helaman 5:30).
“Hey! That’s what it was like—a whisper! I heard the still, small voice!”
Mom smiled. “Yes, you did. And you listened just the way you should have. I’m very proud of you.”
Britton gave Mom a hug. Making her proud made him feel good inside. And knowing he had listened to the still, small voice made him feel even better.

I love the object lesson provided in the outline. But I thought you could add a little bit to it by having different  ideas of the "distractions" or mistakes that may take the Spirit away in their lives.

To make it really fun you could attach a string to each of the spiders and hang them from the ceiling all over the Primary room so that the kids can just pull them down.

Primary 5, Lesson 12 & 13

Have you ever taken a break from something and you get into a new routine and it's just so hard to go back? Well I've hit that the last month or so and for that I apologize. I'm hoping to get back in the groove and have some very fun news to announce in the next few weeks with fun posts as well. Thank you all so much for your support! Your emails of concern and messages on FB have been so wonderful to read and so encouraging.

Primary 5, Lesson 7

Well I've been to the doctors' office, I've been scoped and now have a diagnosis well sort of. I'm not going to die or anything. But it wasn't fantastic news. I'll be on medication for the rest of my life and am on a strict diet and can't eat the "good" stuff. And so now I've experienced a ton of weight loss because I can hardly eat anything. I may possibly need surgery for my esophagus which would possibly in the end make my stomach smaller. But I"m still having a ton of pain so that's not fun at all, we'll be going in again in a couple weeks to hopefully get to the bottom of the pain. The last thing I want is to be on pain killers the rest of my life along with the medication.

I apologize I don't have the PDF and Words right now, but I should soon.

The Gifts of the Spirit [GP: Lesson 22]

LDS.org Gospel Principles Manual, Lesson 22

Hi guys, remember how my new calling is a Gospel Principles teacher? Well this week is my first lesson. I promise I am going to go back and do the handouts for you ladies in Relief Society. But here's what I am doing Sunday for my lesson.

This is a talk by Elder Robert D. Hales on gifts of the spirit. A GREAT AID! It's a long talk, but I just took what I wanted and added it to my lesson.
http://speeches.byu.edu/reader/reader.php?id=7094

There are 12 gifts that the lesson talks about. So what I'm doing is I'm wrapping 12 different size boxes (because no gift if more significant then the others) and then passing them out (I was told I would have about 15-20 people so if I need to have people have more than one box so be it, or not everyone will get a box.)

Here's some quotes I found on gifts of the Spirit not sure which ones I'm going to use yet, but I love the one from George Q. Cannon
"It was asked of me by a gentleman how I guided the people by revelation. I teach them to live so that the Spirit of revelation may make plain to them their duty day by day that they are able to guide themselves. To get this revelation it is necessary that the people live so that their spirits are pure and clean as a piece of blank paper that lies on the desk before the [writer], ready to receive any mark the writer may make upon it." Brigham Young

"He wants His saints to be perfected in the truth. For this purpose He gives these gifts, and bestows them upon those who seek after them, in order that they may be a perfect people upon the face of the earth, notwithstanding their many weaknesses, because God has promised to give the gifts that are necessary for their perfection . . .If any of us are imperfect, it is our duty to pray for the gift that will make us perfect. Have I imperfections? I am full of them. What is my duty? To pray to God to give me the gifts that will correct these imperfections. If I am an angry man, it is my duty to pray for charity; which suffereth long and is kind. Am I an envious man? It is my duty to seek for charity, which envieth not. So with all the gifts of the Gospel. They are intended for this purpose." Elder George Q. Cannon

"The gifts given to each individual are given not only for the one who receives, but also for those who can benefit when the gift is shared with others." Robert D. Hales

"Spiritual gifts are endless in number and infinite in variety." Bruce R. McConkie

**THIS LESSON IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION SO SOME THINGS MAY BE ADDED OR TAKEN AWAY :)** please feel free to take any of my ideas and help for your lesson!

April VT Message- Personal Revelation

Hello to all! I'm back and ready to use my Photoshop and get back to giving stuff to you all! My bathroom is almost complete all that's left is the drywall, and the stuff to go around the bathtub (I'll take pictures when it's all done) but for now it is usable and we moved back in today. We also had a ward party tonight. It was fun with only the few people that came (if you are in my ward and reading this and came thank you so much for your support!) There was an egg toss and bean bag toss, a little potting activity, dinner and dessert (which was a kick!-dirt cups!)
So for my first "I'm back" project is the April Visiting Teaching handout. I completely spaced oops! Thanks for you patience!

My father-in-law is letting me borrow this book, and surprisingly it goes right along with this month's VT message (I borrowed the book a few days ago and only today looked at the message) COOL. The quote for the handout is actually found in this book. I'm only a little bit into it but it is a great resource and thought-provoking book.

Baptism Jar

Hi Guys! How do you like the new look? I've been playing around with HTML Code and such :) (If you want to know how to do anything, let me know and I'll be sure to tell you how!! How are you liking those Don't Eat the Prophet games?  Tomorrow I'm planning on doing the Primary April Theme bookmarks so look out for those too.
For now I have a baptism/Holy Ghost talk for you.
You will need:
~Mason jar (any jar will work, but about that size)
~a Quarter
~Dirt (enough to fill the jar)
~a Scooper for the dirt (the ones that come with baby formula, drink mixes, etc work great)
~Large bowl
Now for the talk....
Hold up the jar and explain that this represents the person who was just baptized. Hold up the quarter and explain that it represents the Holy Ghost and drop it in the jar and shake it. Ask the kids if they can hear the Holy Ghost. Add a scoop of dirt, while doing so give a scenario of some wrong doing (for ideas see below). Shake the jar again and ask if they can still hear the Holy Ghost. (which they should) Continue adding scoops, giving scenarios, and shaking the jar, and soon they will no longer be able to hear the Holy Ghost.
When we sin, the Holy Ghost withdraws from us and can't speak with us. Then ask the kids, how we can hear the Holy Ghost again, then talk about repentance and the atonement. And dump the dirt into the bowl and put the quarter back in. Explain that the jar is still dirty because even though Heavenly Father has forgiven us, we will still to able to remember the mistakes we make so that we don't do them again. As a little gift for the kiddo getting baptize you could have a different jar already made half filled with dirt (shake it around so that the top half is dirty), put a quarter on top of the dirt, then seal it with hot glue so that you can keep the mom's sanity and dirt isn't found around her house, haha. Then on the jar you could put this cute little handout.
