Scripture Story Readers

Just like last year the Friend is creating some really neat pages about different scripture stories but I want them all on one page. These are AWESOME to take along in the church bag! We've found so mnay uses from adding velcro to the back and just keeping them on the big sheet, to cutting them out and reassembling the story and adding some of our own.

Please remember that these are to be printed on legal paper (8.5x14), you can typically print at home by adjusting your printer tray. Make sure that you also make the adjustment in your printer settings to print on this size.

Download them all at once with the Instant Access or click on each of the month below to download:

I LOVE this quote and thought that it was just perfect for this lesson!

I also ran across this fun crossword puzzle from an old Friend magazine and created an easy printable for it.
Please note that this is created as a printable for a LEGAL PAPER (8.5x14). This paper size can easily be found at office supply stores.

Book of Mormon Sequence

I'm so excited to be done with this game! My oldest is anxious to add to our Sunday box and get playing (this is one of his favorite games to play!)

For the markers/chips, you will need 2 different "types" (Cheerios and Fruit Loops, Kidney Beans and White Beans, etc) you can also play with 3 (a lot harder) but just make sure each of the markers are different. We are going to use THESE dot markers (you can find them sometimes at the $ store too) to play because I'm having it laminated so it'll just a be a quick spritz of water and wipe clean. No reading is required so even the small kiddos can play.

(these and the rest of instructions are included in the pdf!)

Full board is 16x20 or use the easy at home printing sheets and assemble.
The cards are about the size of an index card a backing is also included so you can make the cards more sturdy.

Laminate for durability.

Primary 2, Lesson 2

(includes the scripture printout and enrichment #3 to fit on the board)

And here's a game to play for the discussion activity. Using the oldie but good saying  "Chews the Right"

Each of the gumballs has a scenario from the discussion activity. Included are also blank gumballs so you can come up with your own or have the kids do it.
You could put all the gumballs into a bag, use sticky darts, hide around the room, etc.
The gum machine is about 20 inches tall when assembled.

***1/9/16- Before this date the download didn't have the bottom of the machine, the new download does. Sorry about that!***

{Sunbeams} Primary 1, Lesson 2

Paper dolls would SO fun for this lesson while you're talking about how we have a body. You can find a different ones in The Friend that are just darling and you can easily print as many as you need.

{Sharing Time} The scriptures are the word of God

I love in the outline choosing favorite scripture stories from the different books. So I've made matching halves for a bunch of different stories. You can print whatever ones you'd like. The halves are about 8x10 so it's big enough for all to see. You can either put one half on the board and hide the other halves or put the others under random chairs. Then once a match has been made then you can talk about the story associated with the picture.

On the board, write "The Scriptures are _______________" and ask the kids, write their responses on the board. After they've answered fill in the blank with "the word of God".

There are many wonderful stories throughout the scriptures. Can you name the 4 books of scripture that we read? (The Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price) these are called the standard words. Today we are going to learn about some of the stories from these precious books of scripture. (Hang up the halves that you are using - hide the other halves before Primary so that the kids don't know where they are)

Here are the pictures I've used:

Old Testament
Abraham and Isaac
Adam and Eve
Daniel
Jonah
Moses Parts Red Sea
Noah

New Testament
Jesus Calls His Apostles
Jesus was Baptized
Jesus Heals Jairus' Daughter
Gethsemane
The Crucifixion
Parable of the Ten Lepers

Book of Mormon
Brother of Jared
Captain Moroni
Jesus Visits the Nephites
King Benjamin
Moroni Buries the Plates

Doctrine and Covenants (Church History)
The First Vision
Jesus visits Joseph Smith
Saints leave Nauvoo

{Sharing Time}Jesus Christ came to earth as promised by the prophets

*** A LOT LATER THAN PLANNED BUT I HOPE YOU CAN STILL USE THESE!***

Jesus Christ came to earth as promised by the prophets

For this week I really wanted to get the kids thinking about Jesus and about His birth. And about the prophets that prophesied that He would be born. Included in this lesson are the prophets-- Isaiah, Nephi, King Benjamin, Abinadi, and Samuel the Lamanite. Each prophet has 2 poster puzzles. One is about the prophesy and the other is just a "pondering/journal" question to get them thinking and sharing what they know and believe.

I'm sure that there are a lot of ways to use these poster puzzles (each puzzle is about 8x10) but here's what I was thinking. Each puzzle piece has a question/answer style to the pieces so you could
1) put one piece of each puzzle on the board then go through and discuss the one side and then have the kids either look for the other piece because you've hidden it or bring out your sticky darts and have all the pieces on board.
2) pull out your hamster ball/gift box/bag and while playing a Christmas song, the kids each take out a puzzle piece (10 puzzles = 20 pieces) then when everyone has a piece, let them find their match.
Then letting them read their scriptures and see if they know the answer.

{Sharing Time} When I serve my neighbors, I serve God

November Sharing Time Week 4

When I serve my neighbors, I serve God

Let's play some BINGO!!

Each day we have a chance to serve others around us. If we keep our eyes open we can see the things that we can do to help others.

Includes 10 DIFFERENT CARDS and a large (16x20) Bingo board to hang on the board and heart markers so you know what you've called out. Each of the 25 graphics is a different scenario about serving others around us. Included is also a graphic index with what each graphic.
The cards are 8x10, it's recommended to print these on cardstock (110 lb is the best) and laminate if you can for durability.

You can use beans or cereal as markers for the kids. There are large hearts for the large board so you know what you've called out.

The large board is separated into easy to print pages that you can glue together (a preview of the full board is included on the how to play page in the download)

{Sharing Time} When I serve my family, I serve God

I love this topic and I try and teach my boys how to serve each other. And I wanted to add a game to the Sunday Box about service so here you go! Service Cranium.... this is sort of like the normal game but with my own twists.

How to play:
This is a cooperative play, there are no winners or losers. begin by spinning whichever color
it lands on that’s the color they move to. They then choose a number in that color (1-4), give
them that card and whichever color it is that is how they try and have their team/everyone
guess what’s on the card. When that number and color have been picked cover/x it so it
can’t be picked again.
For the yellow section, you choose, add your own cards by filling out the blank card or
letting the kids pick from the other colors which one they’d like to do and use the yellow
card.

*** LET ME CLARIFY,  if place of a #4 card, use the yellow card (the yellow card is "you choose" so you'll either need to make your own or use the yellow card when the kids get into the yellow section. Because there are only 3 sections the 4 in the yellow section you'll need to come up with your own scenario.

Game includes:
A game board (16x16 when assembled)
A spinner and arrow (you will need a brad)
4 cards with things to do for each section (Charades, Draw, Say it Silly, and You Choose!)
blank cards to create your own and add more ways to serve each other each time you play or make it a little more challenging for youth by asking questions!
x's to mark off your numbers (print this page twice so you have enough for each space)

I've also included some ideas to help the kids if they get stuck on the drawing part, ideas for how to say it silly, and prop ideas you can bring for the younger kids.

{Sharing Time} Jesus Christ taught us how to serve others

Here's the Bible Video of the Good Samaritan

Jesus taught us in parables, one parable is the parable of the Good Samaritan.

A man was traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. Thieves were known to hide behind the big rocks along the steep pathway. The Jewish man was attacked by thieves and was left very hurt and with nothing, only to die. As the man was on the side of the road, a Jewish priest came by but he didn't stop and kept going. A Jewish Levite came but he just crossed the road to the other side and kept going. Both the priest and the Levite were men who served in the temple, they were suppose to be examples of righteousness.
Last a men from Samaria saw the beaten man, he stopped and washed the man's wounds, then put him onto his donkey and went to an inn so the Jewish man could rest and get food. The Samaritan man gave the innkeeper money to take care of the beaten man.

The Samaritans and the Jews weren't friends, they worshipped a little differently from the Jews and the Jews thought that they were better than the Samaritans. So for a Samaritan to stop and help a Jew is a really good example of what we can do for those that may not be as nice to us.

For this game, you'll need scratch off stickers for the game board to find the Good Samaritan and good acts to do. You can purchase scratch off stickers! (I haven't been able to find any that are big enough to cover these squares. The squares on the game are a little over 2 inches so stickers should be about that size  you can make your own!

Each character on the board (11 in all) represents something about service, whether it's about themselves doing service, receiving service, and also some scenarios to share! The board when assembled is about 18x20 inches.

If you want to just retell the story using the jumbo cutouts, you can find them below on sale!!

(use coupon code SERVICEGS for 20% off through Saturday, 10/31)

(on sale thru 11/8 for $2.99)

Ponderize 2016 Primary Cards

If you haven't yet heard of this, please read this talk from Conference. In this talk Brother Durrant spoke about using the scriptures as friends and to ponder + memorize = ponderize the scriptures so even in hard times you will have something good to think about.
With this I thought that it'd be so fun for the kids to become involved in this blog crazy sensation.

These cards are just index card size (3.5x5) to be able to carry easily in kids' lunch boxes, in their backpacks, on their mirrors or dressers or on the fridge for the whole family. There is just one per month. There is first the scripture and then a question(s) to ponder and think about.

There are also 3 covers to choose.

UPDATE 12/23/15: Thank you so much for your comments and emails about these fun cards. I've been asked to add solid colors and black and white cards so these have now been added (scroll down). Thank you for the requests!

Gospel ABC Quiet Book {for little kids}

For the little kids, I wanted to do some sort of activity to go along with the same letter that I used for the older kids version. So for these they are either on printer paper size for easy at home printing or you can take it to the copy shop and get it printed. You will need velcro or magnet bits for some of the pages that have pieces to go with it. You can easily attach an envelope to the back and laminate the whole page together then use an exacto knife and "cut" open the envelope to hold the pieces. You can also laminate and use just as table activities instead of a book.

**NEW** Gospel ABCs Book {for older kids}

I've had so many requests for the Gospel ABC book in the Sunday Box from when I did it a few years ago, but since 4shared has turned into a whole slue of problems with viruses, no one can get it (even me with my hard drive crash) so I needed a new one and here's the first version! Geared toward older kids in Primary. (GO HERE TO CHECK OUT THE LITTLE KID VERSION!) Each are sized at 4x6. You can laminate and put book rings on them or get it spiral bound at your local copy shop. You can also put them into a photo book.

Download includes PDFs and JPEGs to take into a print shop. Please note that the cover is a separate download.

(print as photos at Costco, Walgreens, etc)
*for this download you will be taken to an album page you'll just need to hit the download button on the right and it'll begin downloading, may take a while*
