February Scripture Pocket Pals

Hello all! So after a month of using the New Testament Interactive Board, I've decided to change up the format a little for 2 reasons. 1) My family has rarely used the board, sad but true. It was just more convenient to talk about the lessons while we were driving, eating dinner, etc and the beautiful board just sat. 2) I wanted to make it easier to cut out, it took so long to cut out all the pieces and I wanted something faster so without further adieu...
I'm calling these Scripture Pocket Pals because they fit easily in pockets of diaper bags, church bags, in the cubby of the van, etc. My kids LOVE THEM! We've played matching games, finding games, dart games, and racing games it's been so much fun as we learn about the People, Places, and the Study Questions from the manual.

So what you'll need for these beautiful additions? A 3-inch punch. ( I really like this one, it doesn't snag as much as others I've tried.)

I apologize for the delay in their posting, I thought I had planned it out all spaced nicely but apparently not. I'll try and get March's out a lot sooner. Again, most of the information on the cards come from the Bible Dictionary. I did use a little bit of Jesus the Christ for some of the apostles' information.

Any feedback? What's working for you? What can I add to these fun cards? Send me a message on Facebook!

Study Guide: Miracles of Jesus

Many of the miracles of Jesus are quickly coming along as we continue our study and many of these miracles are recorded in more than one book from the 4 Gospels. I wanted to make them all available for reference on one page and this chart just gives me a headache in finding the scripture references so I adapted to what I want so that I could put them into my study notebook.

February Topic Coloring Pages

Designing these coloring pages are so therapeutic! I know that they began as a thing for my oldest, but I am enjoying coloring them too. Do you color them yourself or just your kids?

Come Follow Me- NT Weekly Topic Labels

Have you ever complained about tasks that you just hate doing but they are so helpful so you just keep doing them? Well each week, I've been adding the weekly scripture and topic into my everyday planner so that if I'm out and about I can easily know where to jump to where I'm at and I'm also constantly reminded what we are studying and it's  perfect because I use my planner for getting blog ideas flowing (bring on the sticky notes!).
I was complaining to my friend Jennifer about my problem and she suggested just printing them all up on labels so instead of writing them each week I can just stick it in and be done. So I did just that! I love them!

These are formatted on Avery Template 8160 (30 labels per sheet, 1 inch x 2 5/8 inch) so double check your labels before you print.

Please note: There are 2 April 1-14 and 2 September 30-October 130000, this was intentional because it covers two Sundays and I wanted one for each week.

Each label includes the date, the scripture and the "topic".

February Editable Newsletter

Both the b/w and color versions are included in both the PDF and Word files. Please note that this year I am not including a version without the picture.

At a Glance New Testament Charts

I found a gem to add to our notebooks from old Ensign articles in 2003!
Chart 1 is from January and then Chart 2 is from April. Chart 1 covers from Jesus' birth until the final week of His life and then Chart 2 is the final week of His life. There's Chart 3! (Thanks Nicole!) The file has been updated to include Chart 3 in July.
I love that the charts also correlate and include what is happening in the Book of Mormon at the same time. I've put the 8 pages onto 8.5x14 inch pages and given enough space to tape or staple the pages together to fit really nicely into your study notebook.
You can also fold them in half and create somewhat of a book that sits into each other. This is the way that I did it. Fold slightly before half and then open, hole punch on the left side. You'll need to decide which two holes to use, I prefer the middle and bottom holes. Then put into your binder and fold the pages back over to close the binder. Now when you open the binder, the charts are in order all folded together. Voila! I added this into my binder after John in my chapter study notebook.

January Topic Coloring Pages

My oldest son, who's almost turning 11, has started moaning about coming together to read the New Testament PLUS the Book of Mormon. He says that it's even more boring, so I asked him what we could do to help him to come willingly. You guys! He asked for those coloring pages with all the different shapes and things. DONE! I thought he'd for sure ask for more time on the Wii (completely not above bribery at this point). Stroke of genius I tell you, thank you, my son!!  I thought that maybe some of you are struggling with those pre-teens too.

I wanted to include on the page some small lessons that he could read about as we learn and study the New Testament so I included different parts that he could look up and study for each week. He saw them and put his stamp of approval with some of his own suggestions on the design or even designed himself!

Do you have a child like me? Please share your wisdom!

Study Guide: Be It Unto Me According to Thy Word

Be It Unto Me - Liz Lemon Swindle
I think that this statement from Mary is so powerful. It clearly demonstrates that she was willing to submit to the will of the Father. I had to study these words and their meaning.
I am grateful for this opportunity to take this journey with you. I am humbled in the things that I have learned about my Savior, His Atonement, the qualities of Mary, and how we are blessed as we willingly submit to God and our eternal potential.

Great resources to check out!

Mary, the Mother of Jesus
Willing to Submit -- Elder Neal A. Maxwell
Small and Simple Things -- President Dallin H. Oaks
Submitting to The Will of the Father - President Jeffrey R. Holland (an AMAZING address at BYU, worth the read)
"Swallowed Up in the Will of the Father" -- Elder Neal A. Maxwell

Download also includes a blank page for your own study.

Study Guide: Our Prayers

This week I started back up with school and I am feeling a little out of sorts in figuring out my school schedule and also how to fit this new curriculum into our family's life with me in school. So I'm going to just take it one day at a time as we figure it out.

We decided to play the Prayers Candyland last night and we were able to slip in the story of Zacharias and Elisabeth. It was fun and my kids enjoyed it! We used this study guide to talk about prayer and why it's important. There's also a blank page for you to do your own study.

Here's some great talks to reference for your own study.

Activity: Our Testimony

You guys! Church goes so fast! Holy mackerel! Before I knew it, it was time to go home. Today for our Primary class, I made this page and brought construction paper. The kids ripped up small strips and glued them on. I should have taken a picture, oh well. I talked about what a testimony is, why it's important to have, and how to get one by using this STUDY GUIDE.
It was a huge hit! Thought I'd share.

Stories of Jesus Readers

I posted these in 2017 but I wanted to add to them so you can find each of these readers here.
These pages were found in the Friend magazines of 2017. I wanted them to be all on one page so that they were more easily transported so I put them onto these 8.5x14 pages to add to our arsenal of quick lessons or things to grab for church.

PRINT ON 8.5X14 INCHES PAPER (LEGAL PAPER)

The download includes all 12. You can choose which ones to download via the link.

Study Guide: Our Testimonies

This week, my family is focusing on testimonies and I couldn't get the thought of plant life out of my mind so we're going to learn about a life cycle of a plant and apply it to how our testimonies are just like trees. Testimonies do not start big but small and as it receives nourishment, it continues to grow. I decided to go through a bunch of talks about testimonies to create this study guide. As I read the words of the prophets, I know that we must have our own testimony to teach our children and it is a sacred opportunity to do so. I've included a blank page for your own study of testimony.

These are the talks that stood out to me during my study.

The Importance of Receiving a Personal Testimony -- Elder Robert D. Hales
Pure Testimony -- Elder M. Russell Ballard
How Firm a Foundation -- President Thomas S. Monson

Questions to start a discussion

What is a testimony?

How do you gain a testimony?

From whom do we receive a testimony? (The Holy Ghost)

Why is it important for each of us to have our own testimony of the gospel?

How do our testimonies grow?

Study Guide: Jesus is the Living Christ

I felt impressed this week to study the Living Christ and then share and dissect the Living Christ with my family. We also discussed the Parable of the Sower using these cut-outs.

Questions to prompt discussion:

Who is Jesus Christ and why do you believe in Him?

How can the scriptures help us strengthen our faith and draw closer to Jesus Christ?

Pure Testimony - Elder M. Russell Ballard

A Living Testimony - President Henry B. Eyring

The Power of a Personal Testimony - Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

The Parable of the Sower - Elder Dallin H. Oaks

Study of the life of Jesus Christ will help us appreciate the profound influence He has had and can have in our lives.

The scriptures were written so people might believe in Jesus Christ -- John 20:30-31

In the download, I included a blank page of this page so that you can do one yourself to write what you find and your impressions. Or study it another way.
