December Sharing Time WK 2

This picture can be found in Primary 2, picture 10 (2-10) or you can download it HERE.

I love how this picture can put the real thing into something tangible to the kids that Jesus was more like them then they may think.

With this picture you can play a "matching game" by printing out 2. In one you could cut out the items that the questions below are highlighting and as you explain what it may have been used for you could have a child "I Spy" to the one up on the board (not cut).

In the lesson that corresponds with the picture. It suggests asking questions about what they see in the picture.

  • Where do you think the family slept? (Point out the mat the woman is putting away and the closet behind her that seems to hold other rolled mats. Explain that the roofs of the houses were flat, and steps on the outside of each house led up to the roof. Perhaps the children sometimes slept on the roof.)
  • Where did the baby in this home sleep? (Point out the cradle. Explain that Joseph was a carpenter and might have made a cradle like this one for the baby Jesus.)
  • What do you think the big jars were used for? (Some held water. All the water the family used was carried from the well in the village because there was no running water in the homes. A well is a deep hole in the ground with clean water in it.)
  • What is the woman who is sitting on the floor doing? (Grinding grain to make into bread.)
  • Since there was no electricity, how could they light this home? (They used oil lamps. Point out the lamp on the stool behind the woman grinding grain. Perhaps some of the jars held oil for the lamps.)

I love this picture of the boy Jesus teaching in the temple. You can download it HERE.

As you show this picture, you can point out that Jesus was teaching men who were much older than He was. Jesus knew that He was to do Heavenly Father's work at a very young age.

This picture is in Primary 2. (2-11) or you can download it HERE

During His childhood, Jesus was taught the scriptures, just like we are in our homes. He may have helped Joseph with his carpentry. He may have eaten foods that you eat too. Maybe not pizza or chicken nuggets but bread, fish, lamb (sheep), honey, grapes, figs(fruit), dates(fruit), and milk.

December Sharing Time WK 1

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments and emails. I do read each and it touches me so much.

I have to apologize, this week has gotten away with me. I was hoping to have the activity for this week's sharing time done last night, but it didn't happen and I only got most of it done. I'll have it done soon and maybe you can use it for Christmas at home. I was able to find a fun sharing time though for you over at Little LDS Ideas.

November Sharing WK 4

I received an ever so gentle reminder that I had yet to post the WK 4 Sharing Time, OOPS, I had thought that I had already done it, but alas I had not. I hope you can still use these ideas :)

Before you play the game, there's spaces that you can fill more ideas with how we can be missionaries now and how we can prepare to serve a mission from the kids. Asking them how they can get ready to be a missionary.
Ask some of these questions so that when the kids are asked they can have ideas if their tongues are tied....

Who is God?
Who is Jesus Christ?
Why do you go to church?
What is a prophet?
What is the Book of Mormon?
What happens to us after we die?
What is the sacrament?
Do I need to be baptized?
How can families be together forever?

The Friend has a really good game to play this week.
You can download it HERE.

2013 Primary Songbook

I was asked by Peggy to create a cover for her songs booklet for next year that she is having printed for her Primary and I asked if she'd be willing to share, and the sweetheart that she is, she said yes! The pdf has over 65 pages of songs!! Thanks so much Peggy for sharing!!

Do you have something you'd like to share? Email me at latterdaychatter@yahoo.com.

The space above the children is there so you can add in your ward or anything and then fold in half (hotdog style) for a front and back cover.

From Peggy:  I made this songbook because I want the kids to get to know more than just the "regular" songs sang in primary. The first 8 songs are for the primary program. I included the A of F songs to help with the Faith in God requirement. The remaining songs I refer to as "Homework Songs". We will sing these songs the last Sunday of the month and if they donot need help, a surprise is waiting! :) I made a CD to go along with the songbook so they are able to sing/practice at anytime...this book follows the singing time schedule I have made for the entire year of 2013. I am so excited for the coming year!! Hope this is useful to others!

AGCS:President Thomas S. Monson

This week, Chatter Bird Nicole, will be taking this amazing talk by President Monson.

NOTE: These are Nicole's own thoughts and are not to be construed as doctrine of the Church, if you would like to learn more about the Church, please go to Mormon.org, or email me (latterdaychatter@yahoo.com) and I'd be happy to answer questions!
When I read this talk it really hit home about stopping and counting my blessings. How many times I had prayed for answer and never thought about what the answer was until later when I thought to myself "You had that problem whatever happened?" Then a light clicks on and I go oh yea that was my answer.
Right now, I have a huge request and issue I need help with but I keep getting the answer "Remember it's on the Lord's time, not yours!" This has been very difficult for me and no matter how bad I want this blessing, I have to remember it is the Lord's time and he knows when the time is right. I know it will happen at some point, when it does I will look back on all the small moments that got us where we will be and be very grateful for small blessings that got us there!
