April Activity Mat

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments about these mats! I've had so many of you share how much your Primary and your own children love them. I'm so glad!

In my search for words to use about the Restoration, I came across this pamphlet that I'm sure every missionary knows but I really enjoyed reading through it and wanted to share it for this month's sharing time, I hope you find some great information in it.

You can access these and everything posted in the 2018 calendar year in one easy download with the Instant Access!

{Valiant} Primary 4, Lesson 25

I received a comment that I'm a little behind on the lessons so I've skipped ahead and I will work my way back if I have the time.

To add a little bit of fun, go snag these ADORABLE paper dolls for the armor of God and use them to coordinate with the lesson. All the pieces are separated so you can go through each piece. Perfect for the Enrichment activities for this lesson.

You can easily print enough for your class with each of the pieces to create their own armor of God.

Or you can blow the pieces up and play a game up on the board and let the kids follow the scriptures and see what each piece represents.

The orange analogy I think really brings the armor to life in that even if just a little water gets in the orange will sink. We must have a full armor on to withstand Satan.

I've also created these posters (download includes 2-4x6) to share with your class.

Here's a fun little page from the Friend that you can use for this lesson too!
* the pdf to download is on 2 printer pages that you'll need to glue together for the full poster

You'll find this analogy with the orange in lots of places but I just love it so much that I wanted to share with you the one in the New Era. It also has some awesome references to refer to for your lesson.

Included in the download:
- Boy/girl Posters about the armor of God
- Journal Page
- wordstrips for the different "parts" of the armor

{CTR} Primary 2, Lesson 19

Begin with the large heart (or draw one) on the board. Ask each child to A) come up to the board and around the heart draw or write how they know that Jesus Christ loves them. B) Using strips of paper have the children write how they know that Jesus Christ loves them.

Read the stories of Jesus Christ found in Mark 10 and 3 Nephi 17. If you would like to summarize I've included printouts for the scriptures talking about Him blessing the children.

I loved the little activity so I've put the questions on little hearts that you can have the kids choose from or just do them in order.

And I found this cute little poem and wanted to share! You can download the poem from the Friend below.

{CTR} Primary 2, Lesson 11

I LOVE this Bright Ideas! And shows just how we can be a member missionary!

For this lesson, play a game of flashlight tag!

Share the scripture Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven"

Bring in a flashlight and play some "tag" with questions about how we can be a missionary by being an example to those around us. Shine the light on someone to share how by our example we are being a missionary. Then let the child you picked have a turn to "tag" someone.

Here's some examples:

We are a missionary and are examples
in our conversations with others by having clean language and being careful not to offend others.

We can help others who are alone or sick and lift their spirits.

We can be kind and easy to forgive others and be grateful.

We can dress modestly.

We obey the Word of Wisdom

Every day there are opportunities to shine our light. The world is moving further away from Heavenly Father's commandments, this will make us stand out even more giving us more chances to be missionaries.

And we just had the missionaries over for dinner and they shared this video with us and I thought it was PERFECT for teaching us about being a missionary just by our examples and being a friend.

{CTR} Primary 2, Lesson 10

I'm really excited about this one because we did this with our boys (4 and 7) because prayers were getting a little rambunctious! You'll need scissors and a bunch of willing hands for all these letters but the kids will have a bunch of fun!

There's four words to go with each of the four body parts that we use in prayer. Head, mouth, arms, and eyes --- bow, fold, close, shut.

Scatter the letters on the floor. For the younger kids that just know the letters (unless you've got my 4 year old who refuses to say anything about any letters) you can write the words up on the board. And to challenge the older kids you can say the words one at a time. Select just 2-3 kids for each word to quickly find the letters for added fun bring in a stop watch and race to beat it before it goes off!
Put the body parts up on the board and have the tape handy as they find the letters that spell each word.

*If you don't like "shut" you can easily just use "close" twice but I wanted another word and my husband piped in*
Head= Bow
Mouth=Shut
Arms=Fold
Eyes= Close

Here's some prayers puzzles too that you can hide the pieces or number them and have each piece have a question about prayer. It includes both "boy" and "girl"

{CTR} Primary 2, Lesson 9

I really like this lesson because I feel like it brings Jesus to their level in showing them that He did the same things that they do each day.

For the Picture 2-10, I've blown them up and put them onto 2 legal size (8.5x14) papers (you'll need to glue them together), pass them around to the kids and ask them with a colored pencil to find:
- the woman rolling the mat
- the cradle where the baby sleeps
- the big jars
- the woman sitting on the floor
- the oil lamp

( add anything else that you would like to talk about) once everyone has had a chance, begin discussing each thing and how it is the same as today.)

Bring in some washable paint (homemade version -- add some dish soap to make it washable) and paint brushes (the Dollar Store has a bundle of them)
and print these onto heavy cardstock. Have the kids paint/draw what they think that Jesus may have looked like when he was their age.

Primary 2, Lesson 3: I am a Child of God

Time to pull out your craft supplies for this fun activity!!
Bring in material to decorate these adorable paper kids (we can't call them dolls because boys don't play with dolls mom, ok then--- H, 4) You could bring in felt/fabric/construction paper for the kiddos to make clothes and yarn to make hair. Maybe just some fun silly things like ribbon, cotton balls, googly eyes and pipe cleaners!

*print on cardstock and glue to construction paper so you have durability when the kids decorate.

{Senior Primary} January Challenge Mats

This idea came from Amy J. and I just love it so much that I've tweaked it to make it work for each month of this year. Amy's idea was to have these at the "Meet your teacher breakfast" but I think you could easily send them home at the end of the month with something fun to do about the theme of the month and then they can either bring them back for a small prize or just a YIPPEE! from you.

THANK YOU AMY FOR YOUR IDEA!

These are sized perfectly to print at the church on legal paper. (legal size 8.5x14). I will have one each month this year! Here's January!

These are more for the Senior Primary. Some are more difficult than other activities but all doable.

Laminate for durability and add to your Sunday bag/box!

{Sunbeams} Primary 1, Lesson 1

Print on cardstock and laminate for durability and to use with other lessons or as a time filler game. Use either magnet tape or velcro dots to attach to the mat characters and the backs of the cut-outs characters.

We are all children of our Heavenly Father. Before we came to earth, we were spirits (show the mat) we did not have our skin or our bones, We lived with Heavenly Father but we don't remember it when we came to Earth (have the children each come and make a match) we gained a body. There are many different people but we are each a child of God, He loves us and knows your name.

Primary 7, Lesson 39: Stephen, the Martyr

Primary 7, Lesson 39: Stephen, the Martyr

After Jesus died, many of the Jewish leaders thought that the miracles and the Church of Jesus would go away, but they didn't because the Apostles could perform miracles and continued teaching the gospel. This angered the leaders and they put two of the apostles in prison and James was killed.
Stephen was a righteous man and one of seven that the Apostles called to help them manage and run the Church. He was accused of going against Jewish law, he was arrested and taken to trial by the Jewish Council.
At the trial, Stephen told them that they were wicked and that they had killed Jesus Christ.
Stephen then looked up and there saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He told the leaders what he saw but they didn't believe him and were angry. They took Stephen and stoned him to death. As he was dying, Stephen asked for God to take his spirit.

Learn more about the Godhead with this cut and paste activity. Cut out the characteristics of each of the members of the Godhead and glue them onto the chart under the right member. Activity includes 12 characteristics to cut out.

{Sharing Time} Temple work helps me and my family come unto Christ

We can help our families come closer to Christ through temple work because as we prepare to  go to the temple, we become Christlike. To go to the temple we must be morally clean, obey the commandments and keep the Word of Wisdom and also pay a full tithe. When we are temple worthy our homes will have the Spirit.

DOWNLOAD SHEET OF 4 HERE (PDF HERE)

This game is from another Sharing Time but it's still a fun one. For this use a hamster ball (you know the one with the lid and they can run around the house) put all the circles in and as your pianist plays have the kids pass the ball. When the music stops, the child that has the ball picks one out shares it and maybe have them share an experience/idea/testimony about that, then you share anything you have about it.
